Anthropic Co-Founder Says AI Could Lift US GDP From $30 Trillion to $44 Trillion by 2030

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark said an internal company model projects artificial intelligence could push US GDP from roughly $30 trillion today to $44 trillion by 2030, a gain of nearly $14 trillion driven by accelerating AI capabilities and scientific breakthroughs. Clark himself acknowledged the figure "sounds very outlandish," framing it as a highly speculative but internally generated forecast rather than a firm prediction.

Alongside the economic projection, Clark said AI capabilities at Anthropic are advancing faster than expected and called for stronger global AI regulation to manage the economic shifts the technology could produce, including risks of significant unemployment. The remarks underscore the widening gap between AI's potential upside and the policy frameworks currently in place to govern it.
