Apple Opens Siri AI to All Developers and Launches iOS 27.3 Beta With Watch Audio Intelligence and China Features

Apple on Tuesday opened its Siri AI developer preview to all developers, allowing third-party apps to integrate directly with the redesigned voice assistant starting with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, and macOS 27.3 betas. The move, announced alongside the first developer betas of iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3, significantly broadens Siri's reach into the app ecosystem after the assistant was overhauled through a partnership with Google, whose Gemini model underpins the new version.

The iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3 betas also introduce Audio Intelligence, a feature for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 that uses the device's microphone to listen to and analyze nearby conversations. First unveiled at a September product event, the tools drew immediate attention for their ambient listening capability. Apple also used the beta release to begin wider testing of Apple Intelligence support for China and a redesigned Health app. Beta versions of macOS 27.3, tvOS 27.3, visionOS 27.3, and iPadOS 27.3 were released alongside the iPhone and Watch software.

Apple is leaning on Siri AI to drive device upgrade cycles at a moment when rising AI costs are pressuring its near-term financials. The company's stock fell roughly 4 percent following its most recent earnings report, where finance chief Kevan Parekh cited higher memory costs and expenses tied to the Siri AI ramp. Apple's capital spending remains lean compared to peers, with analysts estimating roughly $11 billion for the fiscal year ended September, a fraction of the combined hundreds of billions being committed annually by Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta.
