ArriVent BioPharma Shares Plunge Over 50% After Firmonertinib Fails Phase 3 Primary Endpoint

ArriVent BioPharma stock collapsed more than 50% on October 6 after the company announced that its Phase 3 FURVENT trial of firmonertinib (240 mg) in first-line EGFR exon 20 insertion mutant non-small cell lung cancer failed to meet its primary endpoint. Blinded independent central review showed progression-free survival of 11.0 months for firmonertinib compared to 9.5 months for chemotherapy, a difference that did not reach statistical significance, with a p-value of 0.0654.

Despite the miss on the primary endpoint, management noted that secondary metrics showed clinical activity and said it is reviewing the full dataset to determine next steps for the firmonertinib program. The stock fell roughly 58% in premarket trading before closing down approximately 51.9% to $13.69 on heavy volume, reflecting investor skepticism that the secondary data will be sufficient to support a regulatory path forward.
