Bitget Exchange Suspected of Losing Up to $200 Million in Multi-Wallet Breach

Crypto exchange Bitget is suspected of suffering a major security breach on September 24, 2026, with on-chain data showing between $170 million and nearly $200 million drained from exchange wallets in under an hour. Arkham data shows a newly created, unidentified wallet swept funds from multiple Bitget-labeled hot wallets and at least one cold wallet across several blockchains, with the transfers completing within roughly 20 minutes. The attacker converted the stolen assets into ETH, in some cases paying approximately 5% above market price to execute the swaps quickly.

Wallets still labeled as belonging to Bitget reportedly hold around $530 million in remaining assets. Users reported withdrawal problems around the same time the on-chain movements were detected. As of the time of initial reporting, Bitget had not issued an official statement and the receiving address had not been publicly identified, leaving the full cause and scope of the incident unclear.
