Byrna Technologies Posts Q3 Net Loss as Revenue Falls 46% Year Over Year, Stock Drops 6% Pre-Market

Byrna Technologies (BYRN) reported a net loss for its fiscal third quarter of 2026 on Thursday, October 8, as revenue fell sharply from a year earlier and higher expenses weighed on results. Net revenue came in at $15.3 million, missing analyst estimates by $0.85 million and representing a roughly 45.7% decline compared to the prior-year period. GAAP earnings per share of negative $0.13 beat the consensus estimate by $0.03.

The revenue decline was broad-based. Wholesale revenue, including royalties, dropped 61.1% year over year to $4.2 million from $10.8 million, driven by a $4.3 million decrease in sales to dedicated dealers and chain store customers, a $2.0 million drop in international wholesale, and a $0.3 million reduction in royalties. The prior-year period had included approximately $3.2 million in shipments to national chain store customers that did not recur.

Gross margin expanded sharply despite lower sales, rising to 79.5% from 60.1% in the year-ago period, as cost of goods sold fell 72.1% to $3.1 million from $11.3 million. The improvement was partly aided by approximately $2.3 million in refunds of previously paid tariffs recorded during the quarter. Gross profit for the period was $12.2 million versus $16.9 million a year earlier.

Shares of BYRN fell nearly 6% in pre-market trading following the report.
