Drone Strike Halts Production at Iraq's Khor Mor Gas Field in Kurdistan
Read this in the Market Flux appA drone strike hit the Khor Mor gas field in Chamchamal, Sulaymaniyah province, in Iraq's Kurdistan region on November 8, triggering a fire visible from a distance and forcing a complete suspension of production operations. Security sources cited by Reuters confirmed the halt, with footage showing a plume of smoke rising from the facility. At least one source attributed the attack to an Iranian drone.
Khor Mor is one of the largest natural gas fields in Iraqi Kurdistan and a critical source of fuel for regional power plants, meaning the production halt carries immediate consequences for electricity supply across northern Iraq. The field is operated by Dana Gas and had previously been targeted in similar strikes, underscoring the vulnerability of Kurdistan's energy infrastructure to drone attacks.
