FDA Approves Revolution Medicines Daraxonrasib as First RAS-Blocking Pill for Pancreatic Cancer

Revolution Medicines received FDA approval on August 26 for daraxonrasib, a once-daily oral drug designed to block multiple forms of the RAS protein in patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, making it the first therapy of its kind to reach the market. The drug, a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor developed under the Nasdaq-listed company ticker RVMD, had previously been granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation and Orphan Drug Designation by the FDA, and was selected for the agency's Commissioner's National Priority Voucher pilot program to accelerate review. Positive Phase 3 results from the RASolute-302 trial were presented at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting and published simultaneously in the New England Journal of Medicine.

RAS mutations are among the most common drivers of pancreatic cancer, a disease with historically poor treatment outcomes, and analysts and oncologists view the approval as a landmark because no prior therapy had successfully targeted multiple RAS variants in this indication. The drug drew additional public attention after a former member of Congress and cancer patient publicly described it as a miracle drug. The European Medicines Agency has also begun an accelerated assessment of daraxonrasib, putting a potential European approval on track as well.
