Intel Plunges Up to 29% After Weak Q4 Guidance Signals Deepening PC Slump
Read this in the Market Flux appIntel shares collapsed as much as 29% on October 30, on pace for the worst single-day percentage drop in the company's history, after its fourth-quarter revenue guidance came in far below Wall Street expectations. The chipmaker said it expects Q4 revenue of $15 billion to $16 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.25, against analyst consensus of roughly $17 billion in revenue and $0.43 in EPS. Some projections had topped $18 billion, making the miss particularly jarring.
The disappointing outlook overshadowed an otherwise solid third quarter. Intel's data center revenue surged 78% year over year to $7.3 billion, and overall results beat the company's own guidance on revenue, gross margin, and earnings. Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner said the company sees "the PC slowdown continuing at least through the first half of next year," and supply-chain problems with data center components compounded the pressure on the forward outlook.
The selloff rippled across the semiconductor sector and broader market. AMD fell roughly 9% and Micron lost around 6%. The Nasdaq 100 sank approximately 2.8% at the open and was still down about 2.6% by early afternoon, while the S&P 500 slid around 1.3%. Amazon's own results, which deepened concerns about AI capital spending, added to the technology rout. UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri cut his Intel price target to $80 from $100, calling the guidance "well below even the most bearish investor expectations," and the VIX spiked alongside the broad selloff.

- BullTheoryio🚨 Massive CRASH in AI Stocks in the Last 48 Hours $INTC: -32.9% $GOOGL: -14.5% $AMZN: -10% $SNDK: -15.8% This comes after disappointing earnings from major tech companies raised fresh concerns about AI spending and future growth. Intel: Its Q4 revenue guidance came in roughly $1.1 billion below investor expectations, triggering a massive selloff. $150 BILLION of its market cap has been wiped out, its largest single day decline in over 40 years. Google: Reported 25% yearly revenue growth, but its free cash flow turned negative by $9.1 billion against expectations of a breakeven. Nearly $500 BILLION was wiped out from its market value in a single day, one of its biggest one day declines in history. Amazon: AWS revenue grew 39%, its fastest growth in nearly 5 years. But the company plans to spend $220 billion in capital expenditure this year, largely on AI infrastructure, with even higher spending expected in 2027. Its annual free cash flow swung from positive $14.8 billion to negative $42.4 billion in just 12 months causing more pressure. SanDisk: Even after beating earnings expectations with 378% yearly revenue growth, investors remained cautious as its quarterly revenue growth slowed from 51% to 23%. Investors are increasingly worried that Big Tech is spending hundreds of billions on AI infrastructure without generating enough cash to justify it. These concerns are now spreading across the semiconductor sector.

- Unusual_WhalesThis is unusual. $INTC is down 30%, wiping out roughly $137 billion in market value. It's on pace for its worst day ever. Q4 guide was a disaster: $15–16B vs $17B expected, EPS $0.25 vs $0.43. Market Tide is bleeding red and is bearish: net calls -$246M, puts +$58M.
