Nvidia in Serious Talks to Acquire Hugging Face at Over $13 Billion Valuation

Nvidia has been in serious talks to acquire Hugging Face, the open-source AI platform, in a deal that could value the company at more than $13 billion, according to Business Insider. No agreement has been reached and talks could still fall apart. The potential deal would represent nearly triple Hugging Face's $4.5 billion valuation from its 2023 funding round, in which Nvidia was already an investor.

An acquisition would give Nvidia a significantly larger foothold in the open-source AI ecosystem, where Hugging Face hosts millions of models and datasets, deepening the chip giant's push beyond hardware into the broader AI software and infrastructure landscape. Hugging Face had also been fielding broader buyout interest, having recruited an investment bank to evaluate potential buyers before the Nvidia talks emerged as the leading development.
