Nvidia Launches Jetson Orin Nano 2 Edge AI Computer Targeting Robotics and Drones

Nvidia unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a new entry-level edge AI computer designed for robots, delivery and inspection drones, and vision systems. The module delivers 78 TOPS of AI compute, paired with 8GB of memory and an 8-core Arm CPU. Nvidia says it offers twice the inference performance of its predecessor, the Orin Nano Super, within the same physical form factor, while consuming 40% less power to achieve equivalent performance in 15W mode.

The device is capable of running optimized large language models and vision-language models locally, including Nemotron, Cosmos, Gemma 4, and Qwen 3. Among the first adopters are Cognex, Doosan Bobcat, and Matic, while Alphabet's Wing subsidiary has said it plans to evaluate the hardware for real-time perception and reasoning in its delivery drone program. The Jetson Orin Nano 2 module and a developer kit are expected to ship in the first half of 2027.
