Pony.ai and Uber Announce Expansion to 2,000-Plus Robotaxis Across Europe Under Deepened Partnership

Chinese autonomous driving firm Pony.ai and Uber announced Friday a major expansion of their European robotaxi partnership, with plans to jointly deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis across the continent. The announcement builds on an earlier collaboration that began taking shape in March 2026, when Pony.ai, Uber, and Croatian firm Verne, an affiliate of the Rimac Group, launched Europe's first commercial robotaxi service starting in Zagreb, Croatia. Under that existing structure, Pony.ai supplies the autonomous driving system and its Arcfox Alpha T5 vehicle developed with Chinese automaker BAIC, Verne owns and operates the fleet, and Uber integrates the service into its global ride-hailing network.

The new 2,000-plus vehicle target marks a significant scaling of that footprint, extending Pony.ai's European ambitions well beyond the initial Croatian deployment. Pony.ai, listed on both Nasdaq and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, had reported a fleet exceeding 1,700 units globally as of mid-2026, meaning the European expansion alone would roughly match or exceed its entire current fleet size.
