Trump August Disclosure Reveals Up to $25M Meta Buy, SpaceX Debt Purchase, and No Iran Strike Before Midterms

President Trump's August financial disclosure, released October 8, shows he made between $5 million and $25 million in Meta shares on August 21, his single largest purchase of the month. He also bought between $1 million and $5 million in SpaceX debt on August 18, just two days before signing a policy aimed at expanding U.S. commercial space transportation. SpaceX is a major NASA and Pentagon contractor and stands to benefit directly from that initiative.

The disclosure covers 517 securities transactions in August totaling between $74 million and $273 million. Beyond Meta and SpaceX, Trump added positions in AT&T, Netflix, and Chevron, and disclosed trades of as much as $1.6 million in Nvidia stock ahead of awarding CEO Jensen Huang the National Medal of Science. On the sell side, he offloaded between $1 million and $5 million in AMD, between $1 million and $5 million in Church and Dwight, between $500,000 and $1 million in Nvidia, and between $500,001 and $1 million in Boeing. Meta shares have risen more than 30 percent since his August purchase.

Separately, Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. will not attack Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, saying Washington is having "productive discussions" with Tehran. He said the blockade of Iran remains fully in force, claiming 22 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz the prior night with none entering or leaving Iran. U.S. stocks, which had been down sharply on Iran tensions, pared losses after the announcement, with the S&P 500 trimming its decline to roughly 0.2 percent and the Nasdaq to about 0.5 percent.
