30-Year Treasury Yields Hit 19-Year High as Markets Brace for Fed Chair Warsh at Jackson Hole

Treasury yields were broadly little changed in early trading on August 27 as markets positioned ahead of an initial jobless claims report and a highly anticipated speech from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole. The yield surge is unfolding alongside a sharp rally in copper, which hit a fresh record high in August, with one copper ETF up nearly 20% for the month and on pace for its best performance on record, driven by AI-related demand, tariff threats, and broad appetite for hard assets. Bond jitters are listed as a contributing factor to that rotation.

In crypto markets, Curve Finance reported a 91.2% jump in DEX volume to 1.1 billion dollars in Week 35, with total value locked reaching 1.54 billion dollars, while Ondo Finance launched its USDY dollar yield token on Tempo, a payments-focused Layer 1 blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, marking the first permissionless tokenized treasury asset on that network.
