Anthropic Nears $45 Billion Cloud Deal With Nscale for West Virginia Data Center Capacity

Anthropic is in advanced talks with Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure company, for a roughly $45 billion cloud computing agreement that could close within days, according to Bloomberg. Under the deal, Anthropic would rent approximately 460 megawatts of compute capacity at Nscale's Monarch Compute Campus, which is under development in West Virginia, and the arrangement would center on NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 GPUs.

The agreement carries strategic weight for both parties. Anthropic has been aggressively locking in compute capacity as it works to increase AI infrastructure ahead of a widely anticipated initial public offering. For Nscale, landing Anthropic as a tenant is a pivotal step in its own IPO preparation, with the London-headquartered neocloud targeting a listing as soon as next month. Nscale is also said to be in talks with Anthropic for a second building at the Monarch campus, suggesting the relationship could expand further.

The deal would rank among the largest single cloud computing commitments on record. Analysts flagged the news as broadly positive for equity markets, with observers noting modest upside for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq and slight pressure on the dollar. Nscale's S-1 filing subsequently disclosed aggregate payments of up to approximately $44.6 billion under the Anthropic services agreements, signed August 25, 2026, corroborating the reported figure.
