The announcement marks a strategic pivot for the Vancouver-based junior exploration company, which had previously focused on gold properties in Nevada, into copper exploration in one of the American West's most established copper-producing regions.

The Yerington district in Lyon County is a well-known copper porphyry belt that has attracted multiple mining companies, including Lion Copper and Gold, which holds advanced-stage copper development assets nearby. Burrell's entry into the district through an option agreement gives it the right to earn into the Rainmaker project without an immediate outright purchase, a common structure for junior explorers seeking to manage upfront capital costs.
