Trump Announces Drug Pricing Deals With Nine More Pharma Companies, Expanding Most Favored Nation Push

President Trump announced on August 31 that his administration has struck drug pricing agreements with nine additional pharmaceutical and biotech companies, committing them to sell medications in the United States at prices aligned with the lowest charged anywhere in the world. Trump named BeOne Medicines and CSL among the companies involved, with UCB, BridgeBio Pharma, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries also confirmed in the new round of deals. The agreements extend a campaign that has brought total administration drug pricing partners to more than two dozen firms, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Gilead Sciences, GSK, Merck, Novartis, Sanofi, Johnson and Johnson, AbbVie, and Regeneron, among others.

The deals are structured around Most Favored Nation pricing, requiring companies to match the lowest prices paid by comparable developed nations abroad. State Medicaid programs can optionally participate, receiving discounts on outpatient drugs under the framework. The White House said prescription drug prices have fallen every month of 2026, with an overall drop of 3.9 percent since Trump took office, and credited the TrumpRx.gov platform with generating $700 million in savings for American patients.

Teva Pharmaceuticals separately announced it is in active discussions with the administration on a deal anchored in all four of the president's drug pricing priorities, covering affordable medicines and U.S. supply chain security, though conditions of those negotiations remain confidential. The pace of deal announcements signals the administration intends to continue signing additional companies in the near term.
