Iran moved swiftly to retaliate. The IRGC announced it had targeted Camp Titin, a US Marine Corps base in Jordan, with a ballistic missile attack, claiming it had eliminated "a large number of American forces" and destroyed key facilities. The Pentagon and Jordan did not immediately confirm those claims, and a Reuters report later indicated no US forces were injured in the Iranian attack. Three missiles fired toward Jordan were intercepted over southern Syria, according to an Al Jazeera correspondent on the ground.

A US missile strike also hit the outskirts of Ahvaz in western Iran, and earlier strikes struck the coastal area of Sirik, near Kuhestak. Iran's Baq command vowed to respond "with firmness" to the Kuhestak attack. The exchange marks a continuing cycle of tit-for-tat military action as neither side shows signs of stepping back from the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway critical to global oil flows. Oil prices extended gains as markets weighed the escalating risk, with a tanker already struck by three unknown projectiles in the Strait days earlier without casualties reported.
